Which currency do you need to take a Caribbean cruise?
It just occurred to me that we will visit some locations I do not know what the money none of them use. Will we be able to trade currencies on the cruise ship for each different location or should we try to see it at home in advance. We go to Colombia, Trinidad, Grenada, Panama, Limon and Barbados.
Although U.S. dollar is accepted everywhere, you might still have problems. In Colombia, you should go for the change of the money from your use pesos. You should be able to find some pits to change money or in port. Everyone will change American to go so you should change it to the bank or some places have signs saying how much they pay. The rate the bank is 6 TT 1 U.S., but some people might give you 6.15. In Grenada they will take the United States but you will change in EC dollars. The exchange rate is 2.70 to 1 U.S.. Very few places could be changes, but not all. In the shopping center after have passed through the ship, they will change. I do not know about Panama, or Limon, but I'm sure you'll be set. In Barbados, the exchange rate is 2 to 1 U.S. is a little easier. All taxi drivers and some stores such as Colombian emeralds, Cave Shepherd, Harrison's, etc. Royal Shop that changes in U.S.. Other stores will all take the United States but you can not change us back. Their exchange rate is either 2 for 1, 1.98 or 1.95. There not much difference if you do not need to change your U.S. currency. You can use your credit card in all these places, but to inform the bank before traveling so that they will suspect that someone else is using the cards.
