The recent trip to Fort Lauderdale to a friend and I were really impressed by how the city grew. When we were young we used to come here for spring break and really enjoyed the area, an area that is now entirely cultural, but still much fun.

We've always liked the Fort Lauderdale area because of its tropical climate, it is hot in summer and winters are so mild that many of our friends down to the north for a visit too. The International Fort Lauderdale Hollywood Airport is a ideal for friends and family who travel to South Florida to fly in and be very compact. One of the world's busiest ports of departure cruise, Port Everglades is just miles from the airport. This is convenient for passengers from four million cruise passes through the Florida busiest cruise port each year to get the vessels that lead through the Caribbean, Europe and the rest the world.

A trip to a wonderful day if you spend some time in the region is the Everglades National Park. The Everglades is little near a swamp that has many birds and animals that live there. It's really beautiful and a great place to take a boat tour of the air especially if you have never been on a boat from the air before.

My friend and I stayed in Fort Lauderdale and decided to go down to Las Olas Blvd to the Riverwalk area. It is art and entertainment and also where the Broward Center for the Performing Arts is located. We do not want see a play or a recital of modern dance, but we did not go to the Sunrise Cinemas. This is a great place to watch a movie with a unique touch. After the latest blockbuster or an Indy movie, you can go relax in the wine bar and beer in the lobby and discuss what you saw, we have done with some people whose table we were asked to share, it was crowded, they were gracious and we made new friends.

The next day we returned to Riverwalk to catch a boat tour of the area. You see, Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America" because it is crossed by 300 miles of waterways. We went up and down the channel to watch all the beautiful architecture of the houses in the region and all the yachts. So to say that this beautiful area if you like the water is an understatement. If you own a yacht or other type ship, which many people do here is a perfect place for sailing, either on the channel or, as we have done through the channels.

Each year, usually in the fall, Fort Lauderdale is this huge boat show called Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. It is the largest boat show water in the world and exhibits more than three billion dollars of boats, yachts and super yachts as well as electronics, engines and thousands of accessories Boat. The Boat Show has over three million square feet of space, both on land and in water, but do not worry, they provide a network of water taxis, riverboats and bus shuttles to help people move. Perhaps we shall come back to this, it sounds like fun.

The next day we all decided to relax and go to the beach. The area offers 23 miles of beaches beautiful Fort Lauderdale so we knew we'd find that Why we like. Some of those we visited. Deerfield Beach is a beach of the cove and is ideal for a day of quiet and tranquility to the beach. Then there was that Hillsboro Beach Lighthouse Hillsboro. This is the perfect beach to sit and watch all the yachts and other boats come because it's just at the entrance. Pompano Beach has been appointed to the Pompano fish in the area, each year they host the festival Pompano Seafood and fishing rodeo. There is a shift in the Gulf Stream here makes this one of the warmest, clearest water in southern Florida. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea is one of the few places in Florida, where three-tier system of natural coral reef is quite close to the beach to swim and snorkel or diving we did, it was spectacular.

Fort Lauderdale is a great place to come for a vacation or spend a few days us.
