Top Cruise Secrets Revealed

There are over 200 cruise ships that you can choose from today. But the only thing they all have in common is a little advance planning and "insider" knowledge can help you save time and money on your next cruise. Here are the "top ten tips":

1. Maximum flexibility = Maximum savings. Most travelers have some flexibility in their dates of travel, especially if planning ahead. Leave your cruise specialist know that you can consider starting dates of parts that have rates less available in May. Keep in mind cruise lines offer better prices and benefits on sailings that are almost no capacity.

Tip: Shoulder and off peak departures offer price cuts deepest. For example, right after the start of the cruise New Year, may be significantly lower.

2. Ask if safeguards are available. This requires that you have a little mind game. Many cruise lines offer a tariff on a particular class cabin instead of a number of cabin and the collateral effect of this rate to you. Then the cruise line has the option of assigning you a cab is in that category or better.

Sometimes you win and find themselves in a cabin several grades higher, and sometimes you find exactly the category that you are guaranteed. Remember, there is both advantages and disadvantages of this program.

Tip: fully understand the process before booking a guarantee.

3.Upgrade programs. Often, your cruise specialist may offer programs online Cruise upgrade. This means that you book and pay for the "B" and would be moved to a higher category 'A'. Again, there is an element of risk here. The fact that cabins may be in a higher category does not always mean it will be a more desirable car. For example, you could be in a cabin balcony Nice mid ship on deck C and get an upgrade to a balcony stateroom on deck A.

While your new assignment in May of the same size and have identical equipment, you could find yourself in a less desirable location like near of an elevator or at the end of the ship. And there are outside cabins with a view partially obstructed by lifeboats or other equipment. On the other hand there are many cases of people being updated several cabin categories wonderful.

Tip: Advise your cruise specialist that you consider upgrades available, but you want to have the last word on any changes before they occur.

4.Special Fare Eligibility - One of the reasons why cruisers warned to find a competent specialist cruise and stick is the fact there are lots of special rate programs or may not be visible for cruisers do research on the casual web. These include things like regional rates that are available to residents of selected states.

Warning: If you are offered a rate Regional and you do not live in this area and can not prove residence, do not. Cruise lines have the right to verify your eligibility of the day Sailing and charge the difference prior to shipment. It happens. Some other special rates being promoted today include active duty rates or retired military member of the union rate, police and public safety discounts, airline or hospitality rates and more yet.

Tip: If your partner cruise is a member of one of these groups, the reductions generally applicable to all persons traveling in the same cabin.

5. Past Passenger Discounts - Almost all major cruise lines have a loyalty club for members with different levels and benefits. Membership is free and allows you to special benefits and discounts when booking on this line. For many cruise lines belonging to the community such as Carnival Corporation, offers stretch all major brands such as Carnival, Princess, Holland America, etc. Ditto for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.

Tip: Many cruise lines started operation before computers become common and can not recover easily be dated to cruises you may have taken several years ago. However, if you send a letter line of the list of cruise ships and cruise you've been on, most of your word and will credit you with these departures are not registered. This could have the effect of moving you from gold to Platinum and significantly improve performance.

6. Check Rates Group: agencies have many cruises are what is known as block space on ships. This means they have reserved space at rates group, which can be up to 20% lower than individual rates. Many agencies that reserve space for groups to take part several cabins for individual clients who might be able to depart from that date.

While you may be traveling with a group, experience cruise will be as a solo traveler. The downside could be that your time eating or article is affected by the program group. The good side is that you might benefit from some amenties group as a shipboard credit, free shore excursions, etc.

Tip: If your Cruise specialist offering group rates, understand the characteristics, advantages and limitations completely before booking. From the perspective Cruise Line you are a member of the group and fall by the policies and procedures for groups.

7. On the back edge of the reservation. Most cruise lines now allow you to book your next cruise with this line while on board. They may have what is known as a consultant on sales Office or even an office. It is usually a great opportunity to save. In general, the cruise throw in some strong benefits to keep your loyalty to their brand. Credits for the cruise aboard future may be quite important. 8.Seek Adds Value. In recent years, cruise lines have introduced something known in the trade as Level Playing Field. This has been instituted to try to control the rampant discounts and rebates that took place in post-11 Travel slump in September. Basically, now the cruise lines have been partially successful in putting the genie back in the bottle by requiring cruise agents all use the same price feeds.

Because agents cruise does not buy and sell cruises, but receive commission, the cruise lines have full control over the published rates. One unintended side effect of playing fair price is that cruise lines had to find a way to promote disputed dates of departure. And they did this by creating a value added features. They can include benefits from dollars out as on pension credits, prepaid gratuities, free spa treatments, specialty dining experiences, casino credits in a bathrobe and free camera.

Tip: Ask your cruise specialist looking for sailings that value supply adds. They can significantly impact your bottom line.

9.Arrange your own airfare. If you need to fly at your port of embarkation in most cruise lines have flight schedules arrangements known as Air / sea good news is that includes flights and often meet and greet and transfers. The bad news is that to publish these add-ons cruise lines have negotiated rates in advance and try to set rates based on average costs.

For you, it usually means that these add-ons may go up to 50% higher that the rates you can get in organizing the flights yourself. The only exception to this in many cases, cruises in Europe, where many lines maintaining rates of bulk contracts. It is always a good idea to compare prices. Most lines allow you to purchase only the transfer package so that you can create your own air / sea package with significant savings. And of course if you have thousands of airline miles collecting dust, this could be a good time to try to use them.

Tip: If you prepare your own flights, make sure you allow enough time for delays flights, etc. Savvy cruisers will often invest in a pre-cruise hotel the night before the cruise so they can avoid the stress caused by flights late. Remember, if the airline leaves you on the tarmac for 7 hours and you miss the boat, good for a free flight not seem very attractive. And unfortunately, the airline will compensate you, or the cruise line will refund your money as you are counted as a no-show.

10. Trip Insurance: What is the only thing you need to make your cruise that you hope never to use? Travel Insurance! As you can see # 9 above and to things can go wrong. A comprehensive travel insurance affordable policy can cover many of these contingencies, including lost luggage, interruption of travel, medical evacuation and more.

Your cruise specialist can explain the various programs available as there many. Mark sure you understand the coverage and limited coverage before accepting it and keep in mind that you can not get coverage retroactive. This is a small but absolutely vital part of your holiday spending. Keep in mind very few insurance policies medical cover you while abroad and policy owner's basis, often do not compensate for loss of baggage or other events. As in overland travel, the carrier liability to you is extremely limited by their contract and should ask for emergency medical board or ashore, you are responsible for all expenses incurred.

Tip: The cancellation insurance is highly specific. Understanding what is covered and uncovered. You can decide not to go to the last minute without incurring cancellation fees substantially. And if you have any pre-existing health issues, this may or may not be a covered event. Therefore it is important to actually read the coverage.
